What if competing under pressure didn’t have to be so stressful? Many athletes believe the butterflies, heart pounding and stomach aches are a sign that something is wrong. The shakiness turns into poor performance because athletes worry about how you’ll perform and you don’t know how to channel the pressure.
What I realized playing on the U.S. National Team is that these pressure feelings are normal.
Because the truth is: Your mindset about what the pressure means for you - changes everything.
And once I learned how to think about pressure in the right way, do the right things to release the pressure. Locking into the present moment became so much easier to do! My performance skyrocketed at the World Cup Qualifier, Pan American Games and international tournaments.
